Experienced in wills, trusts, inheritance and probate with particular knowledge of law as it affects elderly clients, including Court of Protection issues - disputed and non-contentious - and Statutory Wills.
Background:
Qualified as a solicitor in 1995 after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from St John's College, Oxford. Practised with Westminster solicitors Radcliffes before joining Cartmell Shepherd in 2002. She became an Associate in 2004, and a full partner in 2006.
Professional Activities:
Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (“STEP”) and serves on STEP’s Probate and Estates Committee. She was a founder member of Solicitors for the Elderly and is a former member of the Executive of the Probate Section of The Law Society. She also acts as an expert consultant for the Private Client division of the Practical Law Company. She co-authored Heywood and Massey on Court of Protection Practice (13th Edition, 2001-2006), and Charities as Beneficiaries (published 2002 and 2008). Since 2001, she has appeared on BBC 2’s Working Lunch programme as “resident expert” on wills and probate issues, and also speaks on the same subject as a panel guest on BBC Radio 4’s Moneybox Live show. She is often commissioned by editors from the national media and legal press to contribute articles on aspects of wills and probate.
