50 Wainwrights in support of ’50 Faces for Hospice’October 21st 2020
The West Cumbria girls have been busy ticking off Wainwrights over the past few weeks in support of the Hospice at Home West Cumbria 50 Faces campaign.
Here’s a little update on their progress:
Laura Clarke, Private Client Executive, has managed to tick off another eight fells, taking her total to 20 so far. Laura’s most recent walk took in Great Mell Fell, Little Mell Fell and Gowbarrow over 13 miles and just over 1000 metres of ascent. A fab day had by both Laura and her partner, Dan, although they both agree that wading calf deep through a large swamp isn’t something they want to repeat anytime soon! Here’s a picture of Laura, still smiling, on the top of Little Mell Fell.
Lauren Hanley, a secretary in our West Cumbria office, ventured out with her other half, Bob, and their two dogs, Fred and Fern, at the weekend to complete their first Wainwright, Barrow. You can see that Fred and Fern very much enjoyed the 4.5 mile wander, behaving very well for this photo! They are all looking forward to tackling some more in the coming weeks and Bob even has a list to keep them on schedule!
Gemma Rudd, a secretary in our West Cumbria office, took on Latrigg at the weekend for her first one. It was quite a special Wainwright for Gemma and her husband, Andrew, as their children, Ruby and Elliott, and their nephew, Oscar, have never tackled one before – the first of many by the looks on their faces! Thoroughly enjoyed by all, and the children thought it was ‘easy peasy’, so Gemma is planning something a little more tricky for the next one – watch this space!
Laura, Lauren, Gemma and Claire are used to spending lots of time together in the West Cumbria office but, with everything that has happened in recent months, they haven’t all been together since March and so, everything permitting, they are planning a wander up Walla Crag together this weekend. The original plan was a picnic on top but, looking at the double drop rain and wind speed, they might have to settle for a hot chocolate (and some cake, always cake) in Keswick afterwards.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported our West Cumbria girls on their quest to tackle 50 Wainwrights so far. If you haven’t already done so but would like to, there is still time to show your support – just visit our Team Cartmells Just Giving page here.
All donations will be donated to Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
