Richard is a Director, having been a Partner in Nicholson Portnell and its predecessor firm Portnell Ward & Rose since 1986, and having trained with the latter.

Having practised in Hexham for over 40 years, Richard has experience in almost all areas of general practice, especially property law, but now focuses on practice management.

Richard has been an accredited member of the Conveyancing Quality Scheme since its inception in 2011.

About Richard

Richard graduated with an LLB from Brunel University London before joining Portnell Ward & Rose as a Trainee in 1982, qualifying as a Solicitor in 1984. He became a Partner in that firm in1986. He was a Partner in Nicholson Portnell from its creation in 2003, becoming one of its Managing Partners in 2010 and the firm’s Senior Partner in 2018.

Away from work, Richard is a keen though untalented golfer, obsessive about quizzes, and a member of Hexham Rotary Club.
