Peter Stafford

Peter is Cartmell Shepherd’s Managing Director. He has over 25 years of experience involving complex legal disputes of all kinds.

Peter heads up the firm’s Business Services Team and Dispute Resolution Department. He is a specialist in handling probate disputes of all kinds involving Wills, Trusts, Inheritance Disputes and issues relating to capacity.

He also specialises in high value agricultural and commercial disputes acting for a range of large commercial operations, individuals and family businesses across the country.

About Peter

Peter graduated with an LLB from Newcastle Upon Tyne University before qualifying as a Barrister (1992) and a Solicitor (1997). He joined Cartmell Shepherd from London law firm Richards Butler (now Reed Smith) in 1998. He became an Associate in 2002 and a Partner in 2011 prior to becoming the firm’s Managing Director in 2016.

Peter is a full member of ACTAPS (The Associate of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists). One of only 3 in Cumbria.

Peter has been recognised by the Legal 500 (which provides an in-depth analysis of the region’s law firms and solicitors).
