Sarah grew up in Cumbria, though is originally from Yorkshire. She graduated with a law degree from Durham University and qualified as a solicitor with the international law firm, Trowers & Hamlins.
She also holds a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies from the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body. She puts this training to use volunteering for charities dealing with bereavement and mental health issues.
