New legal recruit loving life in the north-east

January 3rd 2020

LIFE in the north-east is proving just the ticket for solicitor Alice Whittome who has just landed her dream job.

Alice, a Newcastle United season ticket holder, has joined leading legal firm Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors as a private client solicitor in Haltwhistle.

Alice is now preparing for her first Christmas as a homeowner with fiance Robbie, a trainee GP at Hexham General Hospital, and their two miniature dachshunds Evie and Lola.

Originally from Kent, Alice graduated from Northumbria University after completing the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course and finished her training in Penrith.

She is delighted to have landed her first private client role with Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors, a member of the UK 200 Group.

“I have always wanted to do private client work and it’s great to have joined Cartmell Shepherd,” she said.

“I have known about Cartmell Shepherd ever since I was at Northumbria University. They have a very good reputation across the north-east and the whole country.

“They are well known for their friendly face to face client approach.

“Cartmell Shepherd has a very caring, sensitive and empathetic approach to clients which is really important when you are dealing with people who might be at a very stressful and emotional time in their life such as when they are making a will, or maybe they have lost a loved one.

“In a community like Haltwhistle, as well as the individual you are dealing with, you also often know the whole family, which makes that caring, friendly and supportive approach so important.”

When Alice is not at work or cheering on Steve Bruce’s side, she spends at least two days a week at the gym, enjoys going to the theatre in Newcastle with Robbie, spending time with dogs Evie and Lola, and is also busy preparing for her wedding day in May.

“It’s very busy at the moment with the new job as well. But I am really happy with the way everything has worked out and really excited for the future,” said Alice.

Alice is part of Cartmell Shepherd’s large Private Client team of 30 members who provide Wills, Probate and Inheritance advice across all its offices in Cumbria and the north-east.
