Property sales pick up as estate agents and conveyancing services get back to work

June 5th 2020

RESIDENTIAL property sales are on the move again across Cumbria and Northumberland, prompting conveyancing services to bounce back.

Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors conveyancing department reports that activity has returned much quicker than many expected.

“While it was quiet during the initial stages of lockdown, now that estate agents are open again activities have picked up significantly” said Elizabeth Crouch Head of Residential Property at Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors.

Several estate agents are back at work offering property viewings using appropriate health and safety and social distancing measures, which has prompted the sharp upturn in inquiries for conveyancing.

Elizabeth said: “We have been operating throughout lockdown to support people, and now that estate agents are open and conducting viewings again the inquiries have really picked up.

“The level of interest in conveyancing quotes is returning much quicker than many firms expected with the majority of conveyancers still furloughed.”

Nationally it has been reported that people have reevaluated their lives, and their homes, during lockdown and many are keen to make a move.

More interest in properties with gardens and outside areas and more inquiries about homes in rural areas – such as across Cumbria and Northumberland – has also been reported.

Others are keen to continue with their plans which they already had in place and had to put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak, and want to get their moves completed.

It’s all leading to a surge in conveyancing work for the highly experienced team at Cartmell Shepherd.

Elizabeth said: “Across the department we have vast experience of dealing with all aspects of property transactions from smaller homes to multi-million pound properties.

“We are here to help people in any way we can as they look to make a move and buy or sell their home as we come out of lockdown.

“We are obviously complying with all social distancing regulations and we can operate a full service remotely to help clients.

“Anyone interested in our residential conveyancing service can give us a call or drop us an email and we will do our best to help you get the service you need to get moving.”
