Clocking the miles to raise awareness for Dementia … team round up!
August 12th 2020Throughout July Team Cartmells have ran and walked hundreds of miles to raise awareness for dementia and have managed to raise an amazing £890 for Alzheimer’s Society.
There were certainly times where it seemed like quite the challenge and there were some very tired legs, however the team are all too aware of how much harder it is in comparison for those living with dementia, especially during COVID-19.
Below is the final update from the team as they faced the last week of the July run / walk for dementia challenge:
Zoe Calway Director, managed another 18.5 miles during the last week of July bringing her final total in July to 126.5 miles. Zoe set herself the challenge of 100 miles in July which she has both met and surpassed.
Zoe said that she really enjoyed getting out and about during the month of July all while raising awareness for such a fantastic cause.
During the last week of July Zoe came across a very friendly face (see below!) and experienced beautiful views along the way.

Terri Hope Marketing Manager, managed another 12 miles this week bringing her total to 68 miles.
Terri set a challenge of 50 miles between running and walking and has said she has really enjoyed the challenge whilst raising awareness for an important charity.
Most of Terri’s walks and runs have been local and she’s hoping to keep it up!

Claire Wilson Associate Solicitor, Claire managed another 13 miles this week, taking her total miles to 54 miles!
Claire set herself the 50 mile challenge and is very pleased with her progress. Claire said she really enjoyed the challenge and actually ended up walking more with her family than running on her own.

Jane Shaw Associate Solicitor, finished with 19 trips out in July covering 125 miles and 40,000 feet of height climbed!
Jane’s last walk was a trip to Wasdale … time to rest those legs!

Alice Whittome Solcitior, clocked another 10 miles during her last week in July taking her total to the goal she set herself of 50 miles in July.
Alice’s favourite run this week was her last run totalling 10k by the local riverside.
Alice has enjoyed both the challenge and raising awareness during July and may actually miss having that 50 mile target to aspire to!

As you can see, the team have really enjoyed setting themselves targets and undertaking the challenge. Although their challenge has come to an end, for those living with dementia the challenges they face are still continuing.
