Lake District Mighty Hike for Macmillan Cancer

June 14th 2022

Our very own Carly Davies is taking on a mighty hike in aid of Macmillan Cancer on Sunday 19th June 2022.

The route is just over 13 miles and has an approximate total elevation gain of 3,274 feet around the picturesque Lake Ullswater.

The walk starting in the beautiful grounds at Dalemain House follows the Ullswater Way and will finish at Lowther Castle, near Penrith.

Carly, Debt Recovery Manager at Cartmell Shepherd Solicitor’s was inspired to do the walk with the hope to get fit again after the Covid pandemic.  She said “After the last couple of years of Covid and putting on a few “Pandemic Pounds” I thought maybe 2022 was the year to get fit again. To motivate myself off the sofa I decided to look for a charity event where I could also raise some much needed funds for a worthwhile cause.

When I discovered that the Macmillan Cancer Care Mighty Hike was taking place at Ullswater Lake, just a couple of miles from where I live in Penrith, I knew it was the ideal opportunity and signed up immediately.

I am slightly regretting my initial New Year enthusiasm at this point, with less than a week to go … and the 13 mile route is looking pretty challenging however the weather forecast is looking good (fingers crossed) and the generosity of those who have sponsored me will keep me going I’m sure!.”

Carly Davies “in training” for the Lake District Might Hike.

Carol Fish, Director and Head of Marketing & Business Development said “At Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors we have always encouraged and supported our team to give back to the communities they serve.  It’s at the very heart of what we do.

Our support and involvement with charities has been even more vital during the past couple of years.  We are fortunate across Cumbria and Northumberland to have so many wonderful communities and so many individuals and businesses who give their time and energy to making a positive difference.”

Carly went on to say “I would like to thank everyone who has supported me so far including my colleagues at Cartmell Shepherd who have been great supporters of my challenge”.
