Claire is experienced in all aspects of employment law, including unfair and constructive dismissal claims, redundancies, TUPE, terms of employment and settlement agreements.
She has experience in acting for both employers and employees advising on contracts, settlement agreements, large-scale redundancies, misconduct and performance dismissals. She has particular expertise in providing corporate support work, advising on the employee aspects of acquisitions, disposals and company reorganisations.
Claire graduated with an LLB from the University of Leicester and qualified as a solicitor in 1985 with London firm Gregory Rowcliffe & Co. She worked for Surrey-based Day Whateley & Co for a year before moving back to London to work for Withers Crossman Block and then Joelson Wilson & Co. She was made a partner at Joelson Wilson & Co in 1990 and stayed there until 2004. After a career break (during which she undertook a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Development) she joined Cartmell Shepherd in 2009 and became a Director in 2012.
Claire is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and former President of the Carlisle and District Law Society.
