Supporting Each Other on Mental Health First Aid Day

November 11th 2025

By Terri Hope, Marketing Manager, Mental Health First Aider & Wellbeing Champion at Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors

At Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors, we believe that good health and wellbeing are just as important in the workplace as they are at home. That’s why, this Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Day, we’re taking a moment to celebrate our commitment to supporting one another not only as colleagues but as people.

We’re proud to have a team of 15 trained Mental Health First Aiders across the firm. These individuals are here to listen, offer guidance and help signpost anyone in need of extra support. Our roles are a vital part of our ongoing effort to create a workplace where everyone feels safe, supported and valued.

Prioritising Wellbeing, Together

In addition to our MHFA team, all employees have access to our Wellbeing Group – a hub designed to help everyone take small but meaningful steps towards better health and happiness. Whether you’re looking for:

•  Tips on managing stress and maintaining balance

•  Inspiration for healthy meals and nutrition

•  Guidance on mental health support and self-care

• Or simply a reminder to take a break and breathe

… the Wellbeing Group is here to help everyone find what they need.

We also host interactive sessions and expert speakers on a wide range of topics including menopause, nutrition and financial wellbeing, helping our team stay informed and empowered in all aspects of life.

Our Commitment to Mental Health

We understand that our area of work can be fast-paced and demanding, which is why we’re committed to making wellbeing a priority. Alongside our support networks and resources, we offer:

•           A half day off for staff to focus on their personal wellbeing

•           A run club, book club and community choir

•           The option to bring your dog to work – because as we all know furry friends can be fantastic mood boosters in the offices!

These initiatives are all part of our broader commitment to mental health and creating a workplace where people can thrive.

This MHFA Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to check in with themselves and those around them. Even a simple conversation can make a big difference.

Let’s continue to build a workplace where compassion, understanding and support are part of our everyday practice because when we look after each other, everything else follows.
