Clocking the miles to raise awareness for Dementia

July 8th 2020

Team Cartmells will be taking on a 50 / 100 mile run or walking challenge for Dementia during July to raise awareness and funds to help the Alzheimer’s Society who support people living with dementia.

Covid-19 has been difficult for everyone but it is hitting those living with dementia the hardest.  Alzheimer’s Society’s ability to increase their support is at risk and is estimated to cost millions.

Those taking part in this challenge are passionate about raising awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society.  It is a charity and a cause which is close to our hearts for many reasons.

Those from Team Cartmells who will be lacing up their trainers during July are:

Zoe Calway Director specialising in wills, probate and inheritance work.  Zoe is based in our Penrith office.

Terri Hope Marketing Manager. Terri works from our city centre office in Carlisle.

Claire Wilson Associate Solicitor specialising in wills, probate and inheritance work.  Claire works from our Rosehill and West Cumbria offices.

Jane Shaw Associate Solicitor specialising in wills, probate and inheritance work.  Jane is based in our Penrith office.

Throughout July Team Cartmells will be running/walking as many miles as they can for this great cause.

Alice Whittome will be providing weekly updates and letting you know how the team are getting on – “I am sure there will be days when they don’t want to do yet another run so any support or motivation will be greatly appreciated!!” says Alice.

She continues – “I am hoping to run 50 miles in July. I am taking part in this as it is such an important time to raise awareness for those living with dementia. During COVID those living with dementia have been really struggling meaning the support that the Alzheimer’s Society needs to provide has increased. By raising awareness and fundraising I hope I can help the Alzheimer’s Society provide the support which is so desperately needed during this time. From a personal point of view it is a cause that means a lot to me which will provide that extra motivation when mile 50 seems out of reach”.

Some of the team have already started and below you can see Zoe during her run as well as the view from one of Alice’s run.
