Alan is a Director, having previously been appointed as a partner at Nicholson Portnell in 2021.
Alan is a member of the specialist body the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He qualified as a solicitor in 2008, and specialises in private client work.
In April 2024 Alan became a director of Cartmell Shepherd upon the amalgamation of Cartmell Shepherd and Nicholson Portnell.
Originally from South West Scotland, Alan studied law in Newcastle and has remained in the North East ever since.

Away from the office Alan enjoys sport of any description, but particularly rugby, football and athletics, and has a keen interest in modern rock music.
