Free online event for landlords on major legal changes ahead

June 10th 2025

Landlords can get advice on new legislation coming into force later this year at a free online event.

The Renters’ Rights Bill is set to usher in a raft of changes which will directly impact landlords renting out residential properties, from agreeing the amount of rent paid to the process of evicting tenants.

Now landlords and letting agents can get advice at a free lunchtime webinar on Thursday, June 26 organised by Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors.

Renters’ Rights Bill: What You Need to Know will outline steps landlords can take to ensure they are prepared for the changes which are expected to become law this autumn. The event will feature expert advice from Cartmell Shepherd’s Dispute Resolution team which works with clients across Cumbria and Northumberland to help resolve contentious issues related to renting out property.

Mark Aspin, who leads the legal firm’s Dispute Resolution team and is one of the speakers at the webinar, said the new legislation would fundamentally change the way the private rented sector operates.

He said: “This is the biggest change to the private rented sector in a generation and will have a far reaching impact for the sector across England. It’s important that landlords have a clear understanding of the changes and how they will affect their own businesses so they are prepared for when they come into force later this year. By being proactive and acting now, they can ensure they are ready.”

Along with Mark, the speakers at the online event include Senior Associate and Head of Property Litigation Rob Winder, who has particular expertise in both residential and commercial landlord and tenant disputes, and paralegal Laura Murphy, who primarily deals with residential landlord and tenant disputes as well as debt recovery.

The Renters’ Rights Bill: What You Need to Know  webinar takes place on Thursday, June 26 from 12noon to 1pm. To book your place click here or call Cartmell Shepherd on 01228 516666.
